Based on the 2nd Edition rules of the popular role-playing game Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Eye of the Beholder is a first-person, 3D adventure with an original story created specifically for the game. An evil entity known only as Xanathar has permeated the ancient City of Waterdeep. As Paladinson you must brave the underground dungeons, sewers, and catacombs of the City Waterdeep, hunting down this villainous presence. To be successful in this game, you will need to build a diverse party of four characters to join you in your quest. There are six species to choose from: Humans, Elves, Half-elves, Gnomes, Dwarves, and Halflings. Each species is composed of user of various classes, including fighters, paladins, clerics, rangers, magi, and thieves. Each race, class, and species has unique abilities and strengths. For example: Clerics have excellent healing and protective skills, rangers are good warriors, and Gnomes are partially immune to the effects of magic. Along with your party of four, one or two more characters may join in if you choose to accept them. These characters are not under your control, but they do follow along, offering advice and information. The action in Eye of the Beholder consists primarily of casting spells and exploring the various dungeons. Armed with swords, bows, darts, and other weapons, you will also be called on to battle giant spiders, giant leeches, golems, skeletons, and other monsters.

You are the only one brave enough to enter the castle's dark chambers. Once inside the foreboding castle, a dark staircase leads you down to the murky depths of the labyrinths below.
Go alone, or find safety in numbers with your faithful companion. Throw daggers at a threatening band of humanoids, living skeletons, ghosts, evil wizards, and grim reapers. Stand back-to-back with your partner to fight them off. Then descend further beneath the earth's surface.
Collect magic potions and treasure chests as you encounter them in the tangle of rooms and corridors. Use keys found on the path to open doors. Take food and drink along the way to keep up your strength.
Danger lurks everywhere in the underground maze. You must conquer the evil guardians to make yourself master of this subterranean domain!

Are you clever enough to solve an evil wizard's twisted puzzles? Do you possess the concentration needed to explore a labyrinth of mystery? Should you resist the tempting treasures, defeat the hideous monsters, and escape the devious traps that are hidden throughout the Grey Lord's dreadful dungeon?
Yes? Then perhaps you'll be the one to enter the caves of the sacred mountain and retrieve the Firestaff from the evil Lord Chaos. To succeed, you must assemble a band of four champions and lead them in fierce battles against the terrible Dark Lord who now rules your master's dungeon.
And if you fail? At best, you'll meet your ghastly end in the dungeon's wretched catacombs, like hundreds of brave adventurers who went before you. Far worse, you might become a captive "trophy" of the evil Lord Chaos, suspended forever in the haunting mirrors of the Hall of Champions.

Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer is a graphical roguelike game and is the second videogame in the Mystery Dungeon series originally released for the Super Famicom in 1995.

As in other roguelikes, the player moves in a turn-based manner through a number of dungeons. While most roguelikes generate dungeons completely randomly, Shiren the Wanderer randomly chooses from a set of static dungeons. Although the player can save the game in various locations, dying resets Shiren's level to 1, sends him back to the first town, and all items not saved in warehouses are lost. The game's dungeons include a variety of settings, like caves and forests, and are randomly filled with monsters, traps, and items.

Vanqish the fiendish forces of Dark Sol and restore peace to the enchanted Kingdom of Thornwood. Search for the powerful Arms of Light and fight the savage creatures that roam the darkness of the Labyrinth. Use your warrior's skills and cunning to pass the test of the Ancients and become a shining Knight.

A fun game with a surprisingly easy gameplay system for an RPG. It has only one town, but that town has one HUGE dungeon. Enjoy!

An older fantasy RPG from the Genesis with the now familiar "hidden prince discovers his true useridentity and embarks on a quest to regain his throne" standard plot.

Excellent sound and graphics, average gameplay. Great if you like RPGs, boring if you don't.

Deep in the dungeons lay the fabled ruby treasures. Many brave souls have tried to recover them; all have failed. Little did they know how futile their quests would be -- they met a horrible fate at the hands of a horrible serpent king. Can your party of champions defeat the dragon and claim the ruby treasures? Or will you, too, be vanquished?

Swords and Serpents is a first-person, party-based CRPG in the tradition of Wizardry. Put together a team of 4 heroes (roll your own characters or simply use the pre-generated party) from three classes: warrior, thief, and magician. A 16-level dungeon awaits you, full of weapons, armor, magic spells, and other valuable items. Beware, though: an assortment of traditional fantasy beasts and villains awaits you!

Teleporters and "zoom tubes" speed up your travels. Temples provide safe havens for your party to restore health and mana. An auto-map feature helps the player keep track of what locations you have visited. A password system allows you to save your progress as you travel deeper into the darkness.

Taloon's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon, AKA Torneko no Daibōken: Fushigi no Dungeon, is the first game in the Mysterious Dungeon series and features Torneko (or Taloon, as he was known in North America), the merchant from Dragon Warrior IV.

The gameplay is similar to roguelike style PC games. The main similarity is the heavy use of randomized dungeons and effects. The main character of the game is Torneko, originally localized as Taloon in North America, a merchant playable character from Dragon Warrior IV.[2] The game continues Torneko's story from Dragon Quest IV, where he wishes to make his store famous and ventures into mysterious dungeons to retrieve items to stock in his store.

While Torneko explores the dungeon, he collects items and fights monsters, similar to the ones found in Dragon Quest games. If Torneko leaves the dungeon, he can sell off the items he found. He can also equip certain items found in the dungeon. By saving up money, Torneko can improve his home and shop.

Wizardry V: Heart of the Maelstrom is the fifth scenario in the Wizardry series of role-playing video games.

Story:
Story

Following from the events of Wizardry III: Legacy of Llylgamyn, Heart of the Maelstrom begins after a period of peace brought about through the use of L'Kbreth's Orb is shattered when the powers of chaos literally begin to emerge into the world. These unnatural energies are especially focused in a series of tunnels beneath the Temple of Sages in Llylgamyn, fittingly called the Maelstrom. Adventurers, namely the player party, are recruited to journey into these caverns and track down a means of summoning a being known as the Gatekeeper who can seal these chaotic energies once more. Unfortunately, he has been imprisoned by a rogue sorceress known as the Sorn.

The first Wizardry game was one of the original CRPG dungeon crawlers, and stands along with Ultima and Might & Magic as one of the defining staples of the genre. You generate and control a party of up to six different adventurers and send them into a 3D vector dungeon to fight monsters and find treasure.

The game takes place in the domain of Trebor, the titular Mad Overlord. Trebor was once only power-mad, but went off the deep end after he acquired a magical amulet of immense power only to have it stolen from him by his nemesis the evil arch-mage Werdna. Werdna, not quite sure how to use the amulet properly, accidentally causes an earthquake which creates a ten-level dungeon beneath Trebor's castle. To avoid looking silly, Werdna declares the dungeon to be the new lair for him and his monster hordes. Trebor, not to be outdone, declares the labyrinth is in fact his new Proving Grounds where adventurers must prove themselves for userhip in his elite honor guard (and incidentally retrieve his amulet in the process). Thus your goal in the game is to descend to the tenth floor of the labyrinth, defeat Werdna, and retrieve the fabled amulet.
